Hyperdilute Radiesse Injections in Montvale, NJ

Radiesse has been a trusted name in aesthetics for many years, most often used as a dermal filler to restore lost volume in the face and hands. More recently, however, its value has expanded far beyond filling alone. When Radiesse is carefully thinned with a saline and anesthetic solution, it shifts from being primarily a volumizer to a regenerative treatment.

This approach, known as Hyperdilute Radiesse, stimulates the body to create new collagen and elastin — the two proteins responsible for keeping skin firm, smooth, and resilient.

In Rubi Med Spa @ Rubinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Montvale, NJ, Dr. Ran Rubinstein and his team use Hyperdilute Radiesse to help patients target skin crepiness, laxity, and thinning in areas where traditional fillers offer limited benefits. Rather than producing an instant plumping effect, this treatment gradually improves skin quality at the structural level, delivering results that continue to develop months after the injections.

THE PROCEDURE

What Is Hyperdilute Radiesse?

Radiesse itself is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. In its standard form, it has been used widely to add definition and restore fullness. When diluted into a finer consistency, the focus shifts: instead of filling, the treatment prompts the body’s fibroblasts to generate new collagen and elastin.

This regenerative response thickens the dermis, supports smoother texture, and reduces the fine, wrinkled look that often develops with age. Because the results depend on your body’s natural processes, they appear gradually and are long-lasting.

How Hyperdilute Radiesse Works

Collagen and elastin production slows steadily as we age, leaving the skin thinner, less elastic, and more prone to sagging or creping. Hyperdilute Radiesse helps counteract these changes by:

The improvements build over time as the body continues to remodel collagen. This makes the treatment an excellent choice for patients who want subtle, natural changes rather than dramatic, immediate results.

Treatment Areas

Hyperdilute Radiesse is versatile and effective across multiple areas where skin quality often declines. At our Montvale practice, it is commonly used for:

These areas are difficult to address with fillers alone, making Hyperdilute Radiesse an appealing alternative for patients seeking skin tightening and texture enhancement across both facial and body regions.

Hyperdilute Radiesse vs. Traditional Radiesse

Although both approaches use the same base product, the outcomes differ:

Traditional Radiesse

Hyperdilute Radiesse

At Rubinstein Plastic Surgery Center, we now use Radiesse primarily in its hyperdilute form because of the regenerative benefits it provides.

What to Expect During Treatment

Hyperdilute Radiesse treatments are performed in our Montvale Rubi Med Spa and typically take around 30 minutes. To keep you comfortable, a topical anesthetic is applied beforehand. Injections are then administered by Dr. Rubinstein or one of our highly trained aesthetic injectors (PA or NP). No incisions or surgical techniques are needed, and most patients find the process very tolerable.

Because results rely on your body’s collagen response, improvements appear gradually. Patients often describe seeing and feeling subtle skin changes after their first session, with more noticeable benefits after completing the full series.

Recovery and Aftercare

There is little to no downtime with Hyperdilute Radiesse. Most patients return to work and normal activities the same day. To reduce swelling or bruising, we generally recommend:

The gradual onset of results means you’ll notice improvements developing slowly over weeks and months, giving the skin a refreshed look without obvious signs of having had a procedure.

Treatment Timeline and Results

For best results, Hyperdilute Radiesse is performed as a series:

After the first session, many patients notice their skin feels softer and looks more hydrated. By the second or third treatment, collagen production is in full effect, with smoother texture and a reduction in crepiness becoming visible. These benefits continue to build for months as new collagen fibers strengthen the skin.
Patients who keep up with maintenance appointments often enjoy long-term improvements in tone, elasticity, and firmness.

Risks and Considerations

Hyperdilute Radiesse is considered very safe when performed by skilled injectors. Side effects are generally mild and may include temporary swelling, redness, or bruising at injection sites. Rarely, small nodules may form, but this risk is extremely low with proper technique and aftercare.
It’s important to know that Hyperdilute Radiesse is an off-label use. While Radiesse is FDA-approved as a filler, its diluted application for collagen stimulation has not been specifically approved. Off-label use is common in cosmetic medicine, and the treatment has an excellent safety record.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hyperdilute Radiesse

Instead of adding volume, Hyperdilute Radiesse promotes collagen and elastin growth, leading to stronger, healthier skin over time.
They both stimulate the same regenerative process by turning on collagen and elastin production. With Sculptra, this can result in noticeable volume and is therefore better suited in areas where volume replacement is desired. The Hyper Dilute Radiesse has a more subtle effect on volume and works solely by improving skin elasticity. Dr. Rubinstein will therefore use it more in portions of the face where added volume would look unnatural. It's often paired together with Sculptra, where the Sculptra is injected into the deeper tissues and the Radiesse in the outer layers closer to the skin surface. The thinner skinned areas such as in the neck and hands respond better to Hyperdilute Radiesse. One additional differentiator is the mechanism of action. Sculptra relies on the body’s inflammatory response to produce collagen and elastin. This can make the tissues sticky for 3 months potentially making facelift surgery more challenging. When injected into the deeper layers, this is not an issue as those layers are not involved during facelift surgery. Hyperdilute Radiesse stimulates collagen and elastin through a non-inflammatory process so there is less of an issue with facelift surgery.
Most patients begin to see subtle changes after a few weeks, with firmer, smoother skin becoming more apparent within three to four months. Results continue up to 6 months.
Typically 2–3 initial treatments spaced 8–12 weeks apart, with maintenance every 12–18 months.
A topical numbing cream is applied before injections, and most patients describe the treatment as very comfortable. Microcannulas are used for added comfort, less bruising, and safer injections.
The lower face, jawline, neck, chest, arms, abdomen, and knees are among the most common treatment sites.
Downtime is minimal. Most patients return to daily activities right away, with only exercise restricted for the first day.
Yes. Side effects are rare and temporary. Risks such as nodules are extremely uncommon with proper care.
Absolutely. Many patients choose to combine Hyperdilute Radiesse with Botox, Sculptra, or laser procedures for more comprehensive results. Combination treatments are often performed at the same time as they have synergistic effects on each other.
Results often last one to two years, with maintenance treatments helping extend benefits.
Radiesse itself is FDA-approved as a filler, but its diluted use for collagen stimulation is considered off-label. This approach is common in cosmetic medicine and widely used due to its safety and effectiveness.
